Kon-X Group: Twenty-Nine Years, Six Named Directors and No Named Project

Share

Kon-X Group publishes more about itself than most Nigerian property companies of its size. It names six senior people with their job titles. It gives two office addresses. It says when it was incorporated and what its divisions do. The one thing it does not publish is a single named real estate project, completed or under construction. For a buyer trying to work out whether the real estate arm of a 1997 company has actually delivered housing, that absence is the whole question.

This is a review of what the public record currently supports about Kon-X Group, and what it does not. Nothing here is a finding about the company's conduct. It is an account of which claims can be checked today and which cannot.

What the company says about itself

The company's own about page states that "Kon-X Limited was incorporated in 1997." Its homepage carries the line "Since 1997" alongside the figure "29 years delivering" and the description "2 offices, Lagos & Abuja." Those numbers are internally consistent: 1997 to 2026 is twenty-nine years.

The business is presented as three divisions. Kon-X Energy covers electrical products and systems, alternative power, smart home systems and home automation. Kon-X Construction covers value engineering, pre-construction management, budget planning and procurement of materials and equipment. Kon-X Real Estate covers development, marketing, sales, project management, and investment and asset management. The homepage adds two further brands, Kon-X Depot for retail and trade distribution and Kon-X Care for maintenance and property services.

The Lagos address is given as Kon-X Place, Km 14, Lekki-Epe Expressway, Agungi-Ajiran. The Abuja address is given as Abia House, Plot 979, 1st Avenue off Ahmadu Bello Way, in the Central Business District.

One detail is worth checking in person. A Nigerian business directory listing for the company gives the same Km 14 Lekki Expressway location but places it in Ibeju-Lekki rather than Agungi-Ajiran. Km 14 on the Lekki-Epe Expressway sits in the Agungi and Ajiran stretch, well short of Ibeju-Lekki, so the directory entry and the company's own page describe different places. Directory records are frequently stale and this is the sort of thing a site visit settles in an afternoon, but it is a reminder that an address copied from an aggregator is not an address verified.

Who runs it

Kon-X Group names its leadership publicly, which is less common than it should be among Nigerian developers. On its own website the company lists:

- Oko Kanu, Executive Chairman and founder

- Deric Legogie, Managing Director

- John Okorie, Director, Head of Sales and Operations

- Chinni Kanu, Director, Head of Transformation, Strategy and Finance

- Edna Okoduwa-Oboh, Head of People and Culture

- Obinna Nwamara, Head of Abuja and North

A public LinkedIn profile for Oko Kanu lists Kon-X as his company, which corroborates the chairman entry from a second source. The remaining five are supported by the company's own site alone. That is normal for a privately held Nigerian firm and it is not a problem in itself, but it does mean the board composition has not been checked against a filing.

Two of the named directors share the surname Kanu. The company does not describe the relationship between them and nothing in the public record establishes one, so the only honest statement is that the published leadership list includes two people with the same surname, one of them the founder.

The Schneider Electric relationship

The company describes itself as an official distributor for Schneider Electric, and the claim appears twice on its homepage. Schneider Electric's Nigeria "where to buy" page groups its channel into categories such as authorised partners, IT channel partners, EcoXpert partners and IT distributors rather than listing individual distributor company names, so that page neither confirms nor contradicts the claim. A buyer who cares about the energy side of the business can ask Kon-X for the partner agreement reference and put it to Schneider Electric's Nigeria office directly.
