Who Owns Far East Organization? The Filings a Singapore Buyer Can Check
Far East Organization is one of the largest private developers in Singapore, and the word that matters there is private. The company itself does not publish accounts. What it does have is a family of connected entities that file publicly, and those filings are where a buyer can actually check who owns what.
Three of them carry most of the useful detail. Far East Orchard Limited is listed on the Singapore Exchange. Far East Hospitality Trust is a stapled listed trust. Yeo Hiap Seng Limited, the beverage company, sits in the same group. Between them they produce shareholder registers, board lists, audited accounts and annual general meeting minutes that name the people behind the developer. That is a reasonable paper trail for a company that is not itself required to give you one.
What the registry says
Far East Organization Pte. Ltd. holds Unique Entity Number 198204889G. It was incorporated on 24 November 1982 as an exempt private company limited by shares, with its registered address at 14 Scotts Road, #06-01, Far East Plaza, Singapore 228213, and its principal activity recorded under SSIC 64202, holding companies of firms engaged in non-financial and insurance activities. The status on the register is live.
Exempt private company status is the reason the accounts are not public. Companies in that category are not generally required to file financial statements with ACRA. So anyone telling you they have reviewed the group's balance sheet is describing something that is not on the public record.
The group traces to 1960 and to the late Ng Teng Fong. Far East's own corporate material puts its output at over 780 developments across residential, hospitality, retail, commercial, healthcare and industrial segments, and around 55,000 private homes in Singapore. Those are the company's figures, published by the company, and they are worth reading as a claim rather than as an audited count.
The listed arm, and what it reveals
Far East Orchard Limited carries company registration number 196700511H on its exchange filings. It was incorporated on 28 December 1967 and listed on the Singapore Exchange on 9 September 1968. Its registered office is 6 Eu Tong Sen Street, #04-28, The Central, Singapore 059817.
Its shareholder disclosure, stated as at 10 March 2026, is the single most useful document in the group. Of 490,939,306 issued ordinary shares, Far East Organization Pte. Ltd. holds 312,307,870, or 63.61 per cent. Four parties are recorded with a deemed interest in that same block: Tan Kim Choo, the Estate of Ng Teng Fong, deceased, Ng Chee Siong, and Ng Chee Tat, Philip. Roughly 36.29 per cent of the share capital sits in public hands, which is what keeps the listing compliant.
That disclosure does something a company website cannot. It puts named individuals against a controlling stake in a filing that carries regulatory consequences if it is wrong.
The Far East Orchard board is separately published. Ms Koh Kah Sek is non-executive chair. Mr Alan Tang Yew Kuen is executive director and group chief executive. The independent directors are Ms Ku Xian Hong as lead independent director, Mr Chan Hon Chew, Mr Shailesh Anand Ganu and Ms Ong Yin Suen, with Mdm Ee Choo Lin Diana as non-executive director. Deloitte and Touche LLP audit the accounts, with Ms Seah Gek Choo as partner in charge from the financial year ended 31 December 2025.
The minutes of the 58th annual general meeting, held on 17 April 2026, record Far East Organization Pte. Ltd. as the majority shareholder in plain terms, and record that directors with relationships to it abstained from voting on the mandate covering interested person transactions. Related party governance at a controlled listed company is exactly the sort of thing that shows up in minutes and nowhere else.
The hospitality trust
Far East Hospitality Trust listed on the SGX mainboard on 27 August 2012 as a stapled group made up of Far East H-REIT and Far East H-BT. The REIT invests in income-producing hospitality property in Singapore. The business trust acts as a backup lessee and can take on projects that do not suit a REIT structure.
The managers are named entities with their own registration numbers. FEO Hospitality Asset Management Pte. Ltd., registration 201102629K, is the REIT manager. FEO Hospitality Trust Management Pte. Ltd., registration 201210698W, is the trustee-manager. DBS Trustee Limited is the trustee. Their registered address is 1 Tanglin Road, #05-01, Orchard Rendezvous Hotel, Singapore 247905.
Who Far East builds with
The clearest recent example of a named partnership is Golden Mile Complex. On 6 May 2022, a joint venture of Perennial Holdings Private Limited at 50 per cent, Sino Land at 25 per cent and Far East Organization at 25 per cent exercised a S$700 million option to purchase the building under a private treaty sale. Golden Mile Complex had been gazetted for conservation by the Urban Redevelopment Authority, and the partners stated they would retain the main building's key features and its terraced profile while exploring a mixed-use redevelopment of office, retail and residential space. The site now carries The Golden Mile and the residential tower Aurea.
Sino Land is not a stranger in that list. Far East's own material describes the Hong Kong listed Sino Group as a sister company, and the Ng family names appear on both sides. Reading the Golden Mile venture as three unrelated parties would miss the structure.
What a buyer in Singapore can check
Singapore gives buyers a statutory framework that does not depend on trusting a brand. The Housing Developers (Control and Licensing) Act 1965 requires a licence to sell units in a covered housing project. The Housing Developers Rules set the terms of the sale and purchase agreement. The Housing Developers (Project Account) Rules require sale proceeds to be paid into a designated project account with controlled withdrawals, which is the mechanism that keeps your money tied to the building you are buying rather than to the developer's general cash flow.
The practical checks are short. Confirm which legal entity is named as the developer on the sale and purchase agreement, because in a group this size it will rarely be the trading name on the brochure. Check that entity's UEN on ACRA's BizFile register. Ask for the housing developer's licence number and the project account details. For the listed arms, read the SGX filings rather than the marketing pages. Platforms such as Bektu exist to make a developer's delivery history checkable in one place, but the underlying registry and exchange records are the source, and they are open.
Two honest limits are worth stating. The scale figures above come from the company itself and are not independently audited. And nothing in the public record reviewed here amounts to a regulatory action, a complaint or a finding against the group. Absence of such a record is not proof of anything either way. It means the search did not turn one up.
Bektu's own company page for Far East lists the developer's contact details and the projects held against it.
